The opportunity

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Azure Platform Engineer / Technical Lead to provide technical leadership across a range of cloud and software projects.

This is a senior, hands-on role requiring deep expertise in designing and delivering complex Microsoft Azure environments. You will work closely with the Solution Architect and broader engineering team to establish technical direction, solve complex infrastructure challenges and strengthen the organisation’s Azure capability.

The successful candidate will bring knowledge and experience beyond traditional cloud support. You will be expected to design solutions, influence architectural decisions and introduce practices and approaches that improve the capability of the wider team.

Key responsibilities
Design and implement secure, scalable and highly available solutions within Microsoft Azure.
Lead the architecture and delivery of complex Azure infrastructure and networking environments.
Design and manage private networking, VNets, landing zones and associated cloud connectivity.
Develop and maintain Azure API Management solutions.
Design integrations between Azure services and Microsoft platforms, including Dynamics 365 and Business Central.
Partner with the Solution Architect to define technical direction and cloud architecture standards.
Provide technical leadership and guidance across multiple projects.
Mentor engineers and improve the team’s knowledge of Azure architecture and engineering practices.
Evaluate existing environments and recommend improvements to security, scalability, reliability and performance.
Work across infrastructure, integration and software engineering initiatives as business requirements evolve.
Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Essential experience
At least five years of hands-on Microsoft Azure experience, with extensive experience in senior engineering or architecture-focused positions.
Demonstrated experience designing Azure environments—not solely administering or supporting them.
Advanced knowledge of Azure networking, including VNets, private networking and secure connectivity.
Strong experience designing and implementing Azure landing zones.
Experience with Azure API Management and enterprise integration patterns.
Experience integrating Azure with Microsoft products such as Dynamics 365 and Business Central.
Strong understanding of cloud security, governance, scalability and reliability.
A broad software engineering background and the flexibility to contribute across different technical projects.
Experience working alongside architects and providing technical leadership to engineering teams.
The ability to independently lead technical initiatives and solve complex architectural problems.
Highly regarded
Ten or more years of experience working with Microsoft Azure.
A broader software engineering career spanning complex enterprise environments.
Experience replacing or modernising legacy infrastructure and integration platforms.
Microsoft Azure architecture or engineering certifications.
Previous experience mentoring engineers and developing internal cloud capability.
What success looks like

You will become a trusted technical leader within the team, working at a senior level with the Solution Architect while helping shape the organisation’s Azure direction. You will strengthen the team’s cloud capability, improve the quality of its infrastructure and introduce knowledge and solutions that support the continued growth of the business.
