Solution Engineer

Contract Solution Engineer role sitting inside a major retail energy transformation program, Melbourne-based, working directly under the Domain Architect.

Role details

Contract Solution Engineer role sitting inside a major retail energy transformation program, Melbourne-based, working directly under the Domain Architect.

You'll produce detailed engineering specifications across integration, data, infrastructure, and security for a large-scale retail digital program. Day to day that means detailed solution designs, build specifications, architectural decisions, and vendor artefact reviews, all within an agile delivery model.

This is a contract role embedded in a global program with real engineering depth to it. You won't be doing high-level architecture hand-waving. The work is specification-level, which means getting into integration wiring diagrams, entity relationship diagrams, component deployment views, and coding standards. The team works in Confluence and SharePoint, PI planning is part of the rhythm, and you'll be working across multiple tribes and chapters within the broader program structure.

The program has global alignment to consider, so there's genuine complexity in balancing local delivery decisions against an international architectural vision. If you've worked in retail energy before, that context will serve you well here. The technology environment spans integration, data, and infrastructure across a modernised retail platform, and you'll be expected to hold your own in rooms with senior architecture leadership and external vendors alike.

What You'll Do

  • Produce engineering specification artefacts including detailed solution designs, build specs, and architectural decision records to guide build-to-deploy delivery.
  • Review and assess vendor-produced design artefacts, providing recommendations back to the Domain Architect and program leadership.
  • Define cybersecurity measures for the program build and secure consensus across security governance forums.
  • Participate in PI planning and initiative definition, assessing change impacts and keeping detailed solutions aligned to broader program drivers.

What You'll Need

  • Proven experience producing engineering-level specifications across integration, data, infrastructure, and security design.
  • Background in retail energy or comparable complex processing environments, with exposure to diverse technology stacks.
  • Solid understanding of agile delivery, architectural governance, and technical debt management at a program scale.
  • Ability to produce clear engineering diagrams including integration wiring diagrams, ERDs, and component deployment views.

About the Company
