Role details
Lead Technical Systems Analyst, global energy company, sitting across Product, Engineering, Architecture, Security and Operations end to end.
You'll translate complex business requirements and customer-facing product features into production-ready technical designs, spanning APIs, integrations, databases and third-party platforms. You'll also act as deputy to the DevSecOps Lead, stepping in across governance, delivery assurance and operational priorities when needed. It's a hands-on senior role where you're doing the work, not just reviewing it.
The team sits inside a large, mature Digital and Technology function, which means real cross-functional exposure. You'll work across architecture, engineering, product and security on the same piece of work, rather than passing documents over a fence. The environment involves distributed systems, API-heavy integration and cloud services, so the technical problems are genuinely complex. Regulated industry context adds weight to the decisions you make around security, observability and operational readiness.
This is a role where your written output matters. Sequence diagrams, data models, API contracts, service dependency maps, these are the artefacts that unlock delivery for engineering teams. You'll also be in the room during major incidents and production events, not as an observer but as the person doing dependency analysis and root-cause support. What You'll Do
- Translate business requirements and product features into technical designs, specifications, integration models and API contracts across complex distributed systems.
- Decompose features into implementation-ready engineering stories with clear technical acceptance criteria, maintaining traceability from business capability to production support.
- Act as senior technical adviser during complex incidents, major changes and production events, providing dependency analysis and root-cause investigation support.
- Represent the DevSecOps function in governance forums and coordinate delivery priorities as deputy to the Development Security and Operations Lead.
What You'll Need
- Significant experience as a Technical Systems Analyst, Senior Systems Analyst or Solution Analyst in a complex digital environment.
- Strong working knowledge of APIs, integration patterns, distributed applications, data flows and system dependencies, with the ability to produce high-quality technical specifications and models.
- Experience across the full Agile delivery lifecycle, from discovery through to production support, including release planning, change impact assessment and production readiness.
- Exposure to cloud services, API management, event-driven integration, DevOps or SRE practices is highly regarded, as is experience in a regulated industry such as energy, utilities or financial services.
