Role details
Cloud infrastructure role supporting vehicle registration and licensing services used by millions of Victorians every day.
You'll design, deploy, and maintain cloud environments across AWS and Azure, with infrastructure-as-code at the centre of how work gets done. Day to day that means writing Terraform, automating provisioning with Python or PowerShell, keeping an eye on performance via CloudWatch and Azure Monitor, and making sure security and compliance standards are met across the board.
This is a permanent role sitting within a Cloud and Networks team, reporting to the Head of Cloud and Networks. The environment is a government-backed joint venture, which means proper funding, long-term stability, and a 40-year operating mandate rather than the uncertainty of a typical startup or short-term project. You'll work alongside development, operations, and security teams, so there's genuine cross-functional exposure built into the role.
The organisation is mid-transformation, modernising services that Victorians rely on for vehicle registration and licensing. That means the work has real weight to it. You'll also participate in an out-of-hours change roster, which is worth knowing upfront. In return, you get the backing of a well-resourced organisation with the kind of infrastructure scale that smaller shops can't offer. A Baseline Security Clearance is required, so you'll need to be an Australian resident with a clean background check.
What You'll Do
- Design and deploy secure, high-performance cloud environments on AWS and Azure using Terraform, CloudFormation, and Ansible.
- Automate infrastructure provisioning and maintenance using Python, Bash, or PowerShell scripting.
- Own disaster recovery planning, backup strategies, and ongoing performance monitoring across cloud environments.
- Work across development, operations, and security teams to integrate cloud solutions and resolve technical issues as they arise.
What You'll Need
- Hands-on AWS and Azure experience across infrastructure design, deployment, and ongoing maintenance.
- Proficiency with infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation) and scripting languages (Python, Bash, PowerShell).
- Working knowledge of containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes), cloud networking, VPNs, load balancing, and security groups.
- Familiarity with monitoring tools including CloudWatch, Prometheus, and Azure Monitor.
