Enterprise-scale Azure contract, hands-on infrastructure and automation work across a platform that supports AI-enabled workloads.
You'll design, build and operate Azure infrastructure for a large engineering team, writing Terraform and Bicep, managing AKS workloads, and keeping the platform secure and observable. Day-to-day work spans Landing Zones, networking, identity, CI/CD pipelines and automation through PowerShell and Python.
This is a contract role inside a team that works at genuine enterprise scale. The platform supports critical business applications alongside AI workloads built on Azure OpenAI and related services, so the problems are real and the infrastructure decisions carry weight. You'll work across Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Microsoft Entra ID, Azure Monitor, Log Analytics and Sentinel, with the full Microsoft stack at your disposal rather than a stripped-back subset.
The team works in Agile delivery cycles and includes platform engineers, architects and security specialists. You won't be the only person who knows what they're doing. There's room to contribute to engineering standards and mentor others if that's something you want, but the core ask is solid hands-on delivery. Experience in a regulated environment like financial services, government or healthcare will serve you well here, given the security and governance expectations baked into the platform.
What You'll Do
- Design and build enterprise Azure infrastructure using Terraform, Bicep and Azure Landing Zones aligned to the Cloud Adoption Framework.
- Deploy and support AKS and containerised workloads, managing networking across VNets, Private Endpoints, ExpressRoute and Azure Firewall.
- Configure Microsoft Entra ID, RBAC, Managed Identities and PIM, and implement monitoring and observability through Azure Monitor, Log Analytics and Sentinel.
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps and GitHub Actions, and drive automation through PowerShell, Azure CLI and Python.
What You'll Need
- 5+ years in Azure Cloud Engineering or Platform Engineering at enterprise scale.
- Strong Infrastructure as Code experience with Terraform and/or Bicep, plus CI/CD pipeline development.
- Solid Azure networking, identity and security knowledge across Entra ID, VNets, Private Endpoints and Azure Firewall.
- Familiarity with AKS, Azure Monitor, Log Analytics and Application Insights in production environments.
